Anything but boaring...

I encountered this lovely mother and her offspring in a forest outside of Salzburg, Austria. I looked behind me to see if Larry "had my back" but he had disappeared...probably trying to fashion a knife out of a stick?...no, just gone.

Any thing but boaring...

Burghausen

Our first night we stayed in Burghausen. This town boasts having the largest castle in Europe. When we went to the castle we were surprised to learn they were having a renaissance fair. Thousands of people were dressed in costumes from the Middle Ages. There was food, drink, and bands that played well into the night. The fair lasts for three days and people bring their tents and stay in the castle. It seems that there are a number of these events and people just travel from castle to castle attending them.

Danube Bike Trail

Here we are just outside of Melk, Austria. The bike trip from Salzburg to Vienna is almost finished. It is about 250-300 miles depending on when you stop. Since we couldn't go to RAGBRAI this year we thought we would take RAGBRAI to Austria.

It's Miller Time

On our way to Munich we kept seeing these fields growing these very tall plants. We finally stopped and asked what they were growing. They told us that the area we were driving through grew most of the world's hops.
